Urgent Care

Visit urgent care if you or a loved one develops an acute illness or suffers an acute injury. Prompt treatment can speed healing and reduce your risk of complications. At Ogiso Health in Nashville, Tennessee, primary care physician Olatunde Oso, MD, MSPH, provides same-day urgent care to adults. Whether you need stitches after injuring yourself at work or want antiviral medication to fight COVID-19, Dr. Oso can help. Call Ogiso Health today to schedule an urgent care appointment or book online. Walk-in appointments are also available during regular business hours.

What is urgent care?

Urgent care provides immediate treatment for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries. It’s a convenient and affordable way to meet medical needs without visiting the emergency room (ER).

Since ERs see patients based on their level of need, those with minor injuries and illnesses often have to wait hours to see a doctor. Urgent care provides a much quicker response. Simply call or walk into the Ogiso Health office. Dr. Oso always makes room for same-day appointments and sees patients right away.

When should I visit urgent care?

At Ogiso Health, Dr. Oso uses urgent care to treat various health problems, including:

  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • Sprains and strains
  • Vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea
  • Common cold
  • Flu
  • COVID-19
  • Skin rashes
  • Sore throat
  • Fever
  • Minor cuts and lacerations

Sometimes, Dr. Oso uses urgent care to treat personal, work, and sports injuries.

What happens at an urgent care visit?

When you arrive at Ogiso Health for urgent care, Dr. Oso reviews your medical records and asks about your symptoms, including when they started, what they feel like, and if certain activities, like moving in a certain way, make them worse.

Next, Dr. Oso completes a physical exam. Each exam varies, depending on your symptoms.

If you have flu-like symptoms, such as a sore throat and drainage, Dr. Oso checks your ears, nose, and throat and collects a saliva swab for analysis. Alternatively, if you have a swollen ankle, he checks your ankle joint for bruising and redness, assesses its range of motion, and orders an MRI to look for ligament damage.

After confirming a diagnosis, Dr. Oso makes personalized treatment recommendations.

Do I need to bring anything to my urgent care appointment?

To ensure your urgent care appointment at Ogiso Health goes smoothly, bring the following items:

  • Photo identification
  • Health insurance information
  • Questions you have
  • List of the medicines, supplements, and vitamins you take
  • Results from any recent or relevant medical tests

Tell Dr. Oso if you have any underlying medical conditions or allergies. Most urgent care visits don’t involve administering medications or immunizations, but alerting your provider is crucial, just in case.
